Altar servers share in a ministry that has a long history in the Church. Servers assist the priest/presider and the assembly in carrying out the ministry of our Eucharistic celebration. Servers must be in fifth grade or older; several servers continue with their ministry into high school. Servers must attend the Catholic Parochial School or Religious Education Program. The program is open to both boys and girls, and training is provided.
Altar servers are scheduled to serve each weekday at all weekend liturgies on a rotating basis. Altar servers serve about once to twice a month. Being an altar server is a great way to serve the parish, especially with one’s friends and siblings. Prayerfulness, dependability, and willingness to learn are the only requirements.
