Advent is a season of preparation for Christmas, and it can be a beautiful season of devotion. Items to help enhance the season of Advent are available in the parish library. Several of the items have been pulled and put on a special shelf for Advent books. This is right in the middle of the library.
Advent Begins at Home, Advent is for Children, and Advent and Lent Activities each contain many ideas for families to use to help everyone focus on the meaning of the season, preparation for Our Lord.
The books Living and Celebrating the Advent-Christmas Seasons, Advent Rainbows, Day by Day through Advent, and A Coming of Christ in Advent are each full of prayers and reflections for the season. Be sure to check these out early so that you could use them the full weeks of Advent. Though our check out time is 2 weeks, you are most welcome to renew these or any items if you are still using them.
Do your children know about the wonderful Feast Days celebrated in Advent? We have books about Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dec. 12, and the Immaculate Conception, Dec. 8.
We have many different presentations of the Christmas story. Most of them have very beautiful illustrations. These are located in the children’s section. They have been pulled and are located between the two baskets of children's books.
If you have a very little one, you might like to borrow the board books about the Christmas story. These are also located with the pulled books between the two baskets.
Finally, our library has video tapes and dvds about Christmas. Some of these are located within the pull-out shelves, and some are on display in front of the video shelf.
Please come by and share in our wonderful resources! Have a blessed Advent!
