Several new items are on our shelves from a recent trip to a conference!
For children about ages 9 and under, we have the new Brother Francis series. These are animated episodes. The titles are The Bread of Life: Celebrating the Eucharist, Let’s Pray: A Lesson on Prayer, The Rosary: A Special Way to Pray, and Forgiven: The Blessings of Confession. For a preview of the series and resources to enrich the lessons, parents can visit www.brotherfrancisonline.com.
Older teens and young adults will learn much about the Catholic faith in the new catechism for youth called YouCat. This is published by Ignatius Press. At first glance, it looks a bit like the Baltimore Catechism with its question and answer format. It’s beautifully illustrated with classic art and current photos, though, and closer inspection finds that the questions and answers are up to date… including references to the internet. The questions and answers have scripture and quotations for references. The book is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Find it in the Young Adult section.
The Church’s teachings on annulment are often difficult to understand. We have a new book called Marriage, Divorce, and Annulment by Jim Blackburn from Catholic Answers. Hopefully this book will help anyone who has questions. It is in the Marriage section.
We have a huge book on the Theology of the Body in our library. You are most welcome to check that out! However, if like many of us, you would like a smaller start, we have a new book called Theology of the Body for beginners by Christopher West. Christopher West is one of the leading teachers of the Theology of the Body. (We also have a cassette tape series and a video set by him, in case you are interested.) Find the book in the Theology section.
