We’re restarting our St. Joseph tradition of our annual Church Picnic! Join us on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Stovall Park, 2800 W. Sublett Road. Beat the heat! We have the pavilion reserved from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
What to bring: Bring your family’s own picnic breakfast and/or lunch and drinks (no alcohol). Charcoal grills are available. The pavilion has picnic tables, but you are welcome to bring your own chairs and/or blankets. Bring your swimsuit and admission $ if you want to swim. Many activity supplies will be available, but you can bring fun activities and sports equipment, too.
What to expect: Take an early morning stroll with friends around the trail starting about 8:30!
We will have organized games and activities starting about 9:00! Kids can also have fun at the playground.
Just a sampling of planned games and activities: water balloon toss, tug of war, horseshoes, bocce ball, ping pong, volleyball, draft, pinpon, Lodu, Oware, other board games, memory book for 25th anniversary... (and 25th anniversary magnets will be available for sale). Bring your balls, Frisbees, dominoes, etc. to add to the fun!
Swimming: Beat the heat even more! When you are finished with your picnic and the activities, you can take a dip in the pool starting at NOON. You can get half-price admission to the pool! The pool is running a school supply drive for Mission Arlington. For half-price admission, bring something from the list at http://missionarlington.org/services/schoolsupplies such as 24 ct. crayons, 8 ct washable markers, wide-ruled notebook paper, or pencils! Let’s load up their school supplies on August 3! [Normal fees are: free for 12 mo. and under; $5.50 for under 48 inches; $6.00 for 48 inches and above.] Note that the pool may get to capacity quickly on a Saturday, so plan to head over early if you are interested.
