All Saints Day, Nov. 1, is a day to commemorate the many canonized saints of our Church. If you would like a refresher about some of the wonderful lives lead by these folks, our parish library has many sources for you!
For kids, we have a series of dvd’s called My Catholic Family. In this series, family situations give way to saint stories told by the parents. It’s a good way to connect from the past to the present. Some of the saints covered in this series are: St. Benedict, St. Catherine of Siena, St. John Vianney, and St. Margaret Mary.
We also have many storybooks of the saints. An especially precious one is about St. Francis of Assisi, telling tales of his loving relationship with our Lord and thus with many different animals.
If you would like to do some activities, look for the book Growing Together: Celebrations for Your Entire Church Family, Volume 1 in the Family Life section or Our Year with God in the Children's section for some ideas on how to celebrate the day.
The library also has some audio cd's with stories of saints for kids.
Adults may like to check out one of our dvd’s or videotapes on lives of various saints. How about St. Joseph, St. John of the Cross, or St. Paul? St. Paul is a new one in the library.
The shelves also hold plenty of books that are biographies of the saints. Many are an easy read but still touch the heart.
