The parish library keeps a list of children's Catholic faith and Bible story books by topic to aid parents and teachers in finding books for their students and children. The lists are uploaded onto the library page of the St. Joseph website for your easy reference.
The Catholic faith list is arranged by topics such as Mary, First Holy Communion, Reconciliation and Saints. Included is a list of saints in each saint anthology in case someone needs to find a bit of information on a saint on a child's level. The notation next to a title of a book tells the first three letters of the author's last name and whether the book is a paperback or hardback. The Catholic faith books have green tags on their spines and are alphabetized by author. The smaller books, mostly paperback that might get kind of lost on the shelf, are in the blue basket on the shelf above the bigger books with green tags.
The Bible story list is arranged by topic with categories from the Old and New Testament. The notation is almost the same as with the Catholic faith books. In addition to listing the first three letters of the author and paper or hardback, some books have a note with Arch or Golden. Arch means it is one of the Arch brand books that are all a certain size, and Golden means that it is one of the Golden brand books. That is just to make it easier for you to find. All of the Bible story books have pink tags on their spines. The smaller books are in the pink basket above the books with the pink tags. They also should be in alphabetical order by author.
If your little ones like lots of pictures with their Bible stories, you should find plenty of books to please as we especailly try to find books that have one story from the Bible with lots of pictures. If you have a reader who prefers lots of writing, he or she might like to check out one of the several children's Bibles. The children's Bibles are kept on the shelf above the baskets.
If you would like to reserve a book for an upcoming lesson, please contact Diane Ashour at ashour_23@sbcglobal.net or 972-601-9751. You should probably give about two weeks notice, but sometimes less time would work.
