Ten years ago, three parish couples --- all full of an enthusiasm to do something for the poor, as they completed a course in Catholic Social Justice, known as “Just Faith” --- began meeting with our Pastoral Administrator, Deacon Dean Hermann. We were looking for a way to channel that enthusiasm (that many would call the Holy Spirit at work). Through those discussions, and the visionary leadership of our first President, Marshall Whitecotton, a St. Vincent DePaul Conference was formed here at St. Joseph.
From a handful of members and about $300 in our treasury, we have grown to arguably the most effective conference in our Diocese. We have more than 30 active members, distribute about $70,000 a year, and bring Christ’s love and aid to hundreds of needy families each year. You, parishioners of St. Joseph, made this happen through your regular and generous donations.
