James G. Harvey, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at age 81 on March 5, 2020.
James was born on Sept. 8, 1938 in Osceola, Missouri, to William and Agnes (Jones) Harvey.
He received his Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri, Rolla in 1961, was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served 2 years on active duty in Alabama. He then worked as an engineer for 31 years at General Motors in Warren, Ohio.
James married Mary Harvey on Aug. 19, 1961, and raised two sons and two daughters. He was ordained as Deacon in the Catholic Church on Dec. 3, 1995 and served the Church for 24 years at St. William Parish in Warren, Ohio; and St. Joseph Parish in Arlington, Texas.
James was deeply spiritual with a passion for sports and serving others. He spent much of his free time coaching his children's sports teams, officiating at swimming meets and as an umpire for local youth baseball and softball games. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Delta Sigma Phi and American Legion. Jim was known for his quick wit and his kind, compassionate spirit.
James was preceded in death by his Mother, Agnes, his father, William, his brother Paul, his sister Charlotte, and his grandson, Karl.
He is survived by his wife Mary; their four children, Ken, Doug, Melissa and Michelle, and their grandchildren Kayla, Amelia, Elise, Madison, Emelyn, Hannah, and Janorah.
