8:30 am and 11 a.m. Sunday - Sanctuary Choir – contributes to the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday Masses, in addition to special services during Holy Week, Christmas and other Holy Days from September to May. Vocal style places emphasis on traditional church sacred music from Gregorian chants, classical masterpieces, spirituals, and some a cappella music written for the Catholic Church. This choir rehearses from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays twice a month from August to May.
While previous singing experience is helpful, no audition is required to join the Sanctuary Choir, and new singers are always welcome. You are not required to sing for both masses; however, both choirs are asked to sing for 5th Sundays.
8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Chamber Choir – Auditioned chamber choir that sings at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday Mass from September to May. Vocal style places emphasis on traditional church sacred music from Gregorian chants, classical masterpieces, spirituals, and some a cappella music written for the Catholic Church. This choir rehearses 7-9 p.m. Wednesday nights twice a month from August to May. Warm up is Sunday morning an hour before mass. You are not required to sing for both masses; however, both choirs are asked to sing for 5th Sundays.
Life Teen Youth Band and Choir – is open for middle school, high school student, and adults who love singing Contemporary Christian music. The group rehearses every Sunday at 4 p.m. in the church. The band is comprised of woodwind, strings, and brass band instruments, as well as, youth and adult singers. During the school year, students at St Joseph School practice on Tuesday after school at 3:15 p.m. in the school and the parish will rehearsal at 6 p.m. in the church.
5:30 p.m. Saturday - All Generation Choir – Open to all ages. This choir consists of worship leaders who lead the singing for the 5:30 p.m. Saturday liturgy. Rehearsal and warm up is at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The choir consists of singers and instrumentalists and the style of music is contemporary.
Spanish Choir – Open to all youth and adults. The Spanish Choir consists of worship leaders who lead the singing for the Sunday 1 p.m. Spanish Mass. The choir rehearses on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. all year round. The style of music is Hispanic folk and traditional.
Combined African Choirs of St. Joseph –. Open to all adults, teenagers and anyone who loves to sing ethnic music from the African continent and African American Gospel music. African choir sings on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 11 a.m. for a Mass dedicated in honor of Africa. The mass invites pray for those who have lost their lives, and for those who are still suffering from war, Ebola, AIDS, other diseases, and famine. We will also offer prayers of thanksgiving for those who were spared Rehearsal is at 7 p.m. Wednesday nights two to three times a month.
Children’s Choir – Open to all children grades 1-6. Children’s choir rehearses 4:30 p.m. Sunday and sings every 2nd Sunday at 5:30 pm. Mass during the school year.
Ghana Choir – sings at the 1 p.m. Ghana Mass every Sunday.
Combined Choirs of St. Joseph - is a group is made up of all the choirs at St. Joseph and sings primarily for the Church Holy Days and Solemnities – Christmas at Midnight Mass (Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord), Church Patron Feast Day, Easter Triduum, as well as on other special occasions as requested by the pastor.
Children’s Christmas Pageant – The Christmas pageant is presented at the 4 p.m. Christmas Eve mass. Auditions are held in October. Open to all children grades Pre-K-3 (ages 3 to 6 grade).
Cantors - contribute their vocal talents to the liturgy by leading the congregation in the parts of the Mass ordinary, the hymns, and the responsorial psalm. Cantors are used for all liturgies – Saturday and Sunday weekend Masses, weddings, funerals, quinceaneras, and other special liturgies.
Instrumentalists – Instruments are welcome to play at the weekend masses and for special liturgies. If you play a guitar, string, brass, or wind instrument and you would like to contribute your services for selected liturgies.
