St. Joseph Catholic Church recognizes the fact that children and teens may not have had an opportunity to receive the sacraments. The Church is offering a two year RCIA process especially developed for such a circumstance. The sacraments of initiation involved are Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation.
We are asking that at least one of the parents/guardians attend each and every session with the child. Thus, you will continue to be an integral part of their faith journey. It is because of your example and witness that they will grow in their understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. We look forward to the day when we can welcome them into full communion with the Catholic Church and as members of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The sessions meet on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30 in the Church from September through April. We follow the Arlington school calendar for our scheduled sessions.
Since the children will be baptized, it is necessary for you to consider whom you wish for a godparent. The requirements for who can serve as a godparent are: 1) be a practicing Catholic of at least 16 years of age, 2) received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Communion, and 3) (if married), married in the Catholic Church. You may have two godparents, but only ONE is required.
How can I Register my family?
The registration fee is $30.00 for each year and $50 for the final year per child. This fee covers the textbooks and materials used each year. A copy of your child’s birth certificate and any custody documents are required at the time of registration.
For any questions or to register, set up a family appointment. Contact the parish office at 817-472-5181 ext. 1013.
